Tullow Road Youth Project

The Tullow Road Youth Project is a community based Youth Project based at 48 John Sweeney Park on the Tullow Road in Carlow

What Do We Do?

We provide a dedicated youth friendly space for young people that is both safe, fun and inclusive. We offer a wide range of activities for young people in the Tullow Rd area aged between 10-25 years. All our programmes are youth led making sure the voice of the young person is heard and their viewpoints are always taken into account. Some programmes offered are:

Baking– Join us in a dedicated kitchen space where you get the opportunity to bake some healthy tasty delights. Get an opportunity to learn how to use the different mixers, and taste the delicious treats baked.

Gaming– With all the up to date consoles, VR headsets and some retro style consoles, enjoy playing in the company of friends and learn skills to promote healthy gaming.

Creative Crafts-With a dedicated crafting space we have a varied programme on offer. With all the up to date Cricut machines and sublimation printers, the sky is the limit with your creative ideas.

STEAM-  stands for Science, Technology, Art. Engineering, and Mathematics. It’s an educational approach that integrates these four disciplines to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation. It’s a fun way of learning key elements such as making solar powered cars, volcanoes, tower building and electrical circuits to name a few. Each session is a new adventure.

Lego Animation- Bring your Lego to life with this programme, create your own story and watch it develop into your very own movie clip.

Camps– Themed based camps that are sure to be fun, these occur at the school holidays throughout the year.

Youth Volunteer Task Group-This group is made up of young teenagers that are engaged in planning summer programmes for the younger age group and volunteering within these programmes. The youth volunteers undertake training in child protection, first aid, communication etc.

Board Games/Chess-For those interested in skilled board games with variety this is the programme for you. It’s a great way to encourage communication with young people in a fun way.

Come Dine with me –Do you want to learn to how to cook up a 3 course meal healthy tasty meal and enjoy the benefits of eating this. If cooking is your interest come along, be ready to put the chef hat on and have fun.

Who Do We Work With?

Young People aged 10 – 25 years.


What Can Young People Expect?

Young people can expect a safe space to engage in new activities and experiences that will enhance their social and personal development and promote confidence building. It’s a way of making new friends or come along with friends. Young people can expect to be involved in the planning and development of youth-led programmes in the project as we are committed to ensuring that youth participation underpins our work.

What Can Parents Expect?

Parents can expect their children to have opportunities to gain new skills, knowledge and experiences supported through positive professional relationships with the staff and volunteers working in the project.
